Ive never heard of a rainbow turtle and I'm fairly sure there's no such thing.. my guess is that you have a baby red eared slider but unless you post a picture no one will know. either way the most important thing is that you provide adequate lighting. A UV light is extremely important for the well being of the turtle without one they are very prone to a bone disease called MBD.. also if you don't have a strong filter i would go get one other wise cleaning that tank is going to be hell. (they poop something ridiculous). the deeper water you can give them the better usually about 12" deep is perfect any less will be OK but there wont be allot of room for swimming. your turtle is going to get big i hope your ready to get at least a 60 gallon tank within about 2 years. (again bigger is better.)
just read the link im going to give you it should answer all your questions.

1. There is no such thing as a 'rainbow turtle'. you nee to find out what it really is. Different kinds of turtles need different cares. You can check out the gallery at http://www.tortoise.org to start finding the right name for it, or describe it to us and see if we can help.
2. Without knowing the right species, I can only offer general advice.
- For most turtles, the care sheets and links at the above site will get you started.
- If it is a pond turtle- Red-ear slider or Painted turtle, for example, try http://www.redearslider.com
Good luck!

Put it in an aquarium with some gravel in the bottom and a couple of larger rocks that he can climb out of the water onto. The water should be just a few inches deep. Feed him insects that you can catch and drop in to him, or even get some fish from the grocery store and cut it into small pieces and then offer it to him on a toothpick. As he gets bigger you can buy small goldfish and he will catch them.

Go to the aquarium and get turtle food and follow the directions, or get wax worms from the local bait store. I've had my turtles for about six years now, they are awesome!

at the same time as finished grown they get a million foot lengthy. so 10 gallons isn't adequate. i imagine a 40 gallon should be ok, yet nevertheless pushing it. They devour commercial turtle pellets accessible at petsmart and petco etc. they choose an section to get out of the water and a warmth lamp with the right form of sunshine (i cant imagine of it off the suitable of my head). they favor an aquarium clear out contained in the tank because they're very messy, so be prepared for cleansing the tank out per week. sturdy luck.

I put mine in a huge plastic tub w/lots of rocks sticking up out of the water...there is turtle food at the pet store. Mine does great on that stuff....it is in a container like fish food. And then of course you have to love it and pet it and call it George.
