I saw a really neat hanging fish tank that I will be getting for convenience purposes. I love African Violets, but because I have a gazillion in my room, I needed something small. The fish tank I am wanting to get is rather small. Holds just a gallon. I don't really want to buy a beta. I'd rather have some other fish and if at all possible, 2 small fish. What is something I can get that will actually survive in the small tank?

That "tank" is too small for even a betta.

If you're going to keep fish, do proper research first. Buy an actual aquarium (no less than 10g please) and do more research.

Find out how much space a particular adult fish will need and who they can swim with. Are they fresh, marine, or brackish?

Nothing. It is too small especially with out filtration. Small fish are tropical, this water will be room temp- too cold for mollies, tetras, guppies, danios and all the other fish these lunatics recommended.

Even for a betta that is small. You will have to do a lot of maintenance.

One gallon is NOT big enough for anything other than a betta (if you want your pets to be happy and healthy.) Even small fish like guppies and neons need more room than that. You could possibly keep a dwarf african clawed frog in it.

ask the fish guy at your fish store and he will tell you the best fish to put in that fish tank and dont put fish in it right away because your gonna need to get tropical fish so your goin to haft to wait till your fish tank is upper 70 lower 80s to keep tropical fish because thats all you can keep because your getting such a small fish tank and get some neons or something really colorful well good luck with your fish tank

If you're keeping a betta, don't put it with other fish in such a small tank.

neons are fun OR guppies. But there is no such thing as 2 guppies. Get the fan tail ones because they are so shimmery and pretty.
