I have yet to see the movie, but I am so in love with the book. It's on my top 5 of favorites. I guess I haven't seen the movie b/c I just loved the book so much that I'm afraid the movie will be too much of a disappointment. I don't want anything to taint my feelings of the book. And we all know that ,more often than not...movies do not do the books justice.
I'm sure I'll get around to seeing it.
I'm glad to hear good things about it though.

I love it! Especially the book. It was SO good. Very deep and meaningful but an easy read. At the end, where Sayuri went back to Gion and walked past the places where she used to go and mentioned all the past things she went through, it was so sad that she had gone through all of that. I kept trying to hold it off because I just didn't want it to finish.
The movie was good too, but I liked the book better because it was much more personal.
And to think, this was Arthur Golden's first book! I seriously hope he writes more.
Have a good day!

I loved the book. I went into it thinking geisha were prostitutes. It was educational and inspirational. The movie... though beautifully photographed, didn't really capture the essence of the story. I thought they made Sayuri a little bit of a whiner when I marveled at her strength in the book.

The book was the best ever. I highly recommend it, but the movie was confusing, and left way to many details out, and I don't recommend it.
