I was allowed to double date at 15 and date at 16. I certainly don't think it should be any younger than that. Girls younger than 16 are not yet ready to handle the responsibility, and they haven't developed enough self-respect to understand that their worth doesn't depend on what a particular boy thinks of them.
Personally, I don't think this is something we develop until at least 21.... (ha!), but it is only gained through experience. 16 is a good age to date.

I was 16 when I finally got to start dating. Kind of sucked for me because I was a senior in high school. In retrospect my parents did the right thing. Group outings are good for 13 and up as long as a parent takes and picks up. Not exactly cool, but your daughter will be a lot safer. Also had to be 16 before I could ride in a car driven by a friend.

Dating should be allowed at about 16 years old, going on dates. Having little school boyfriends isn't the same, that doesn't matter when. But girls should start dating at 16 with a strict cerfew and 18 as much as they want when they get out of the house.
