first we cant smoke in resturaunts then in bars even transit centers are banning smoking and their outside. the casino is the only place where i seem to be able to smoke then i have people sitting next to me complaining and it makes me so mad because there are plenty of casinos in my area that have smoke free sections. if i want to hurt my own body by smoking thats my desicion if others dont want the effects of second hand smoke then go to one of the millions of places that have banned smoking. just let me slowly kill myself in peace. and yes i know all the effects of smoking many of them are listed right on the pack of my cigarettes im not stupid. so my question is why cant you non smokers let us smoke in peace in the few places we are still alowed to smoke and why cant we be given a few more places to smoke?

seriously? Yes, you have the right to smoke and take in the ill effects of your smoking. But, we non smokers also have the right to have a smoke free environment. I have asthma and cigarette smoke really bothers me. I lived with a smoker for 5 years and his smoking gave me a serious asthma attack that almost killed me. At the time I was living with him the effects of second hand smoke were not clear at the time. So, we non smokers have to go to places were smoking is banned? Why to you have to light up and make others suffer? See, it works both ways. Do you realize how much cigarettes stink? As to your typos, no problem...but, there is spell check :)

Let me share with you a reason why this is an issue.

A friend of mine has part of her lungs paralyzed, she will cough for hours if anyone smokes near her. She tries to avoid it, but she teaches a class and the smokers congregate outside the door so she has to walk through cigarette smoke.

I bring this up, because this stresses part of the reason why so many people don't like cigarette smoke.

My daughter used to have to be on a nebulizer if she was in a smoke filled room. We would even sit in the non-smoking section, but the smokers would run out of space in the restaurant and no one would make them move when they sat in the non-smoking section. Great food but we can no longer go there.

I understand you want the right to enjoy a cigarette, but that enjoyment can be a matter of life or death to other people as well.

I don't know what the solution is, other than to politely state to them that this section is for smokers and ask them why they come over to that section.

Smoking is bad for you...as well as second hand smoke. In my opinion...I think that smokers should be the ones to have to adhere to nonsmokers. If I'm not smoking (near you), it doesn't affect you. However, if you are smoking (near me), it does affect me. I just don't like breathing that into my lungs...although I know it's going to happen. I just try to avoid it a lot! I grew up with a mom who smokes all the time. I don't allow anyone to smoke in my car or home though. Not to mention it stinks really bad! Why should I have to go somewhere else so you can harm yourself as well as me though? If you want to smoke, that's ok...but since what I don't do doesn't affect you...it should be you who has to do the extra work.

Not sure if that made any sense, but just my opinion! :)

I agree that smokers are socially outcast.

If you love your brother, then why can't you think of what you are doing to your brother, who has chosen not to smoke for his own reasons?

I smoke but I don't smoke in the house or around my family. I don't want my kids to be addicted before they have a choice. My guy quit smoking a long time ago and he doesn't mind that I do, but I'm not going to thank him for staying out of my face about it by blowing it in his. It's just being considerate. That's all.

Yes, we are outcast. But we could at least try to understand why and know that we are a minority vote.

I don't exactly like going outside in 20-degree weather or rain, but it is my choice....

Personally I do not care if you smoke--

You are absolutely right--you have every right to smoke.

I just do not want to breathe it.

If we share public places then the poor health habbits of one person should not be allowed to impact the health of others. I remember the time where smoking was allowed everywhere and I would nearly choke in public areas--no smoke free places for me.

I think you should be allowed to smoke in designated areas, in places where non-smokers are not forced to inhale your cigarette smoke.

I think if you are in a place where smoking is allowed, then the person bothered should move.

you answered your own question. second hand smoke. that is why they are so mean. Next time you light up on a street, think of how nasty it is to a non smoker. It smells. Many are allergic. Most non smokers resent having a carcinogen in their face. You have your house. Pollute your own air and stop being so self centered.

People can die from second-hand smoke. People have a right to protect their health. If you know the reasons not to smoke, then you know why non-smokers don't want to be around when you smoke.

I just started a new job and my boss had the nerve to say to me that I should spray some perfume before speaking with clients because my smoking is offensive. I didn't even smoke in front of him. Besides this is Texas...I can still smoke wherever I want!!

well, smoke drifts so banning it from restaurants helps everyone who doesn't want to die sooner. also some people like myself have illnesses or birth/genetic defects that overexposure to second hand smoke or anyother smoke would kill us faster than it would kill you.

I know it's not "fair" for you but you don't need to make it unfair for everyone else. i go out for a nice walk and i always pass smokers, i'm nice, i wave, and walk a little faster, then i cough after passing b/c no matter how long i hold my breath i always catch a little. then the smoker glares at me. like seriously, someone is always gonna lose.

becasue smoking is bad, and is trying to be discouraged, plus they are not letting people smoke in places cause the smoke gives other innocent people sencond hand cancer or something like that. also we might like to be in places that have a smoking section, it could have a nice view or near the drinks or somethin so go to ur house and kill yourself
