There are numerous ways.
If you want to monitor/control their internet activity:

What have they deleted?
When items are deleted, they are still on your hard drive until they get overwritten by something else.
When you delete something, you're actually telling the hard drive that it's ok to place something else in the spot where the file is stored.
The data remains there until something actually DOES replace it,
which can be a long time indeed.
There are various programs out there which will let you get to those "Deleted" files.

Really delete something:
If something has overwritten a file, that file is permanently gone.
There are also programs which will write zeros in place of a file you want deleted, which will permanently destroy it.

There are tons of programs out there to monitor what activity
happens on a machine.

Yes!
If you find a zip file (it looks like a stack of books - just browse my computer...theres bound to be one) open it and click the back button (which is an up arrow in the top left corner) this will eventually take you back to my computer...then you will see a folder called tempoary internet files, double click on this and you will see a few different folders. double click on a folder and you will see all the files which have been attached from going onto internet sites. Some of them will be pictures so you will know if your children are looking at greusome images etc. Don't forget that these are the exact pictures which they have been looking at, it might have just been a small image on a website they were browsing!
I hope this helps

One way to go is to purchase and install a stealth keylogging program. This logs all keystrokes made on the computer, plus takes screenshots at an interval you select (every minute, every 30 seconds, etc) so you can see what they see and play it back like a video. (Spector Pro is one I've used, but there are many)
For younger kids, where you want to prevent them accessing things (as opposed to checking up on them after the fact), you'd want a parental control program (like NetNanny).

do a search for picture files, usually they will delete a bunch of them ,but some hide from them. Also look at the history of your video program to see if they were watching porn movie downloads.

Get the computer out of their bedrooms and into a well-travelled area. Keep an eye on them. My son has his 3 kids' computers networked. He is administrator and sets security. Additionally, their computers are lined up just outside his office door. No complaints, or no computer. You are the parent.

the easiest way would be with a traker that you can find for free almost anywhere on the internet. check www.download.com and look around for one you like. otherwise, a program that traks keystroke entries would also work, and could catch things a web tracker wouldnt like search engine entries ,etc.
hope this helps!
