The 1984 draft also had Olajuwon who was the first pick. So there was Olajuwon, Jordan, Barkley, and Stockton. The 2003 draft had James, Anthony, Wade, and Bosh.
Let's just break down the drafts by position.
Centers - 1984 had Olajuwon; 2003 had Bosh?...not quite. Hakeem has two Finals MVPs so we'll leave it at that.
Point Guards - '84 had Stockton; '03 had Luke and T.J.
Luke who? T.J. who? Stockton wins this matchup.
Swingmen - '84 had Jordan; '03 had LeBron and Wade. This is very debatable and it's 2 against 1. Either could wind up just as good or even better than MJ. Only time will tell between this battle. It's a tie
Forwards - Barkley or Carmelo? Neither seems to have a big advantage over the other. They can both score and rebound. It's another tie.
Here's the recap.
Centers -'84
Point Guard - '84
Swingmen - TIE
Forwards - TIE
The 1984 draft class is better, but if a '03 player surpasses Jordan and the others have Hall of Fame careers then the '03 draft class will be better.

2003 is better. Your forgetting Kirk Hinrich, Chris Bosh, josh Howard, and T.J. ford.
But the 1996 class was the best of all time.
Kobe bryant, Allan Iverson, Antoine Walker, Jermaine O'neal, MArcus Camby, Derek Fisher, Ray Allen, Stephon Marbury, Shareef-Abdu Rahim, Steve Nash, Ben wallace,

1984 hands down. Class of 03 is stellar yes, but anyone of those guys could have a career ending injury or anything and still have a lot to prove. With the talent, championships, team and individual records in the class of 84, their legacy will stand for a long time.

I sure have really enjoyed Jordan and Sir Charles over the years. I think it may be to early to tell. The 2003 folks all together have not been as entertaining as the 1984 group.

Class 2003. We just don't know what to expect from this young guys but as for now they've been stellar. We all know what class '84 did for the game, that is putting the game in a higher level. But look, class '03 can still be better and as I look at it, they can. And also, I forgot, '96 is the best.

Right now you would have to give it to the class of 84 because they have already proved them selves. If the 2003 players keep going and improving along the way they could make it interesting but they are just getting started and anything can happen from becoming Superstars to a career ending injury.

1984 without a doubt. All those players had more experience and Jordan outshines the entire 2003 class by himself!

i like the newer class better.. basicly because i feel as the game evolves the players get better.. also i like how the kids came out of high school and matured very fast with their talent.. as opposed to spending 4 years in college and being prepped

when it's all said and done, the '03 draft class will be the best..........but at the moment, the '84 draft class is still on top
