If you go with the north and south poles as being two points, then it would stand to reason that the other two are the points where the equator meets 0º longitude (west of the Congo, in Africa, in the Atlantic), and where the equator meets 180º longitude (east of the Philippines in the Pacific).

Which makes sense, if you think about it. The equator divides the earth into northern and southern hemispheres, while the 0º-180º longitude line divides the eastern and western hemispheres.

But really, the term "four corners of the earth" meant the four corners of a map of the known world back in the day.

The phrase 4 corners of the Earth refers to all points on Earth. The term is used in the Bible at Isiah 11 :12.

Theres four corners to a square, oblong, a parallel something or other. The earth is a squashed sphere. Only the ignorant spanish inquistion could tell you the four corners of their flat world. You'd have to go back a few centuries though.

The earth has, of course, no corners, directional or otherwise. The expression, meaning an arbitrarily large portion of the earth's surface, goes way back.

I dont think there is any, as the earth is round not square. seriously though how can you determine how far east or west to go? You will just go back to where you started.
