Sometimes you can go through vocational once you get in high school. If they don't offer that class or you don't have vocational opportunities, look in the phone book to see if there are any local colleges or barber colleges. It's a two year course usually. You take classes on anatomy, diseases (scalp and nail), haircutting, perming, cleaning utensils, and lots of other things. You usually spend so much time as a junior learning from books and working with your dummy head and then move onto the "floor" as a senior, actually working on real people, sometimes just classmates, etc. Hope this helps!

Most Cosmetology schools don't judge by days. You have to have a certain amount of hours, before you can take an exam to be a cosmetologist.
