I really think that the only thing that parents need to worry about that is going to be an influence to their teenaged children are their friends. Words, no matter how graphic, can't influence anyone. Songs are just words. It takes personal interaction along with those words for someone to be influenced to do something. If kids get the right kind of influence when they are young from their parents, older siblings or whatever mentors they may have, they will know right from wrong and maybe they will be the one to pass on their influence!

Yeah. Not just hip-hop though. Sex sells and the music industry is influencing little 13 year olds to wear short skirts up to their a$# and act all sexy. I see more little girls dressing promiscuous than I ever have when I was their age. In the corrupted music indusrtry "sex is cool"...it's the "in thing for everybody of all ages". All in all, it does have to do with whether or not the parents put their foot down. But when do teenagers listen to their parents? It's so sad.

Of course not. After all, Eminem did the song "Mosh" and youths didn't storm the voting booths and vote for Kerry did they?

Teenagers are much more influenced by people in their neighborhood than they ever were influenced by a song....and if a mere song can make someone decide to have sex, they have bigger problems than I can talk about here!

No, not particularly at all.

Pop music is far more sexual. That kindof of hiphop, nobody evens listens to the lyrics. Really, I think song lyrics have very little influene on how youth act, much more the entire magazine and mtv culture that defines what is perceived normal and natural.

People who think sexual hip-hop lyrics cause sexual feelings in youth are so off! I don't think what music you listen to is relevent to what age you have sex; I think it has more to do with the person, cuz I LOVE hip-hop, but I'd never do pre-maritial sex.

I don't think so if they want to listen to it and be influfenced then they can but it might put ideas into their heads about having sex, doing drugs or what ever. All I'm trying to say is that they have a choice to either imitate be and be influenced by it or not.

yes and no.... teens are going to want to have sex no matter if they hear it in a song or not. At those ages you are curious about sex already, but hearing how great it is in a song only makes you want to act on your feelings. Sex is not something to be taking lightly peoples feelings can get hurt if they are having sex too young and are unable to deal with all that comes along with such a serious act.

Not any more than Old Navy commercials and the Republican party influence teenagers to have sex.

Absolutely. All it takes is smooth lyrics, a nice music track, a hypnotic beat, and an established role model. Most teenagers will do what such a person will say.

absolutely not...I didn't listen to hip hop back when I was a teenager, but I DID have sex. Kids will do what they want to do, they don't need permission or encouragement, they just need to get the urge and boom, it's sex time!
