Someone told me that the reason Manny wanted to be traded was that he had had an affair and his wife was demanding that they move so that he wouldn't see the woman anymore. Does anyone know anything about this?

Actually, Manny wasn't cheating, his wife just wanted to be able to go out without all the fanfare that goes with Manny in Boston. It goes like this, they both enjoy nightlife (clubs, etc.) and whenever they tried to go to the Boston locations, Manny got mobbed by fans and they couldn't enjoy their evening. So his wife asked him to ask for a trade to NY (mets), LA, or another market where baseball wasn't so big.

I don't know about Manny, but i know that the reason Andy Pettitte signed with the Astros a few years ago was because his wife demanded he move away from New York, where he had a woman on the side. Now THAT is funny.

That is a big rumor in the area. The alleged story is that his wife caught him and demanded that they leave Boston or she would leave him. No deal could be made, I'm not sure what happened to their marriage, but he is now renting out a penthouse hotel in Boston and has been for a good while now.

Manny must have had lots of affairs since he demands a trade every year or so. :)
