taking percocet or vicodin can cause the baby to be born with a drug dependency and then go through withdrawls. while during the first half of your pregnancy it's not the best, but if you stop taking it soon enough, then your body has time to get the drugs out and the baby will be ok. taken during the latter half of a pregnancy is more dangerous, as you have no idea when the baby will actually come, and it takes a month or more for the drugs to get out of your blood stream. my doctor prescribed vicodin for a friend of mine while pregnant (15 weeks) but she only took it a few times. at 30 weeks my doctor prescribed vicodin for me (after i took a fall and hurt my hip and back) but was told to use it only if absolutely necessary. i was too scared that i wouldn't get it out of my body in time that i never took it.
my brother is a doctor though and said that my doc was dumb for prescribing it to me. it can be dangerous for the baby.

If you need it for a bad injury and it is prescribed by a doctor for SHORT TERM use, then it's acceptable.

If you are taking it recreationally, or daily for a medical condition, *not* ok. A few percocets is not going to cause birth defects or anything if that's your worry. The only contents of Percocet are oxycodone and tylenol. Vicodin contains hydrocodone and tylenol. But oxycodone and hydrocodone are opiates (same class as morphine, dilaudid or even heroin!) and cause physical dependence.

Consult your OB/GYN, pharmacist and/or neonatologist before using any medications when pregnant!

If they were prescribed my your doctor then they must be ok. I know small doses of vicodin is alright for a short period of time because my doctor prescribed it to me twice when I was pregnant and my daughter turn out just fine. But make sure they are prescribed by your doc.

I've HEARD of pregnant women being giving one or the other 4 different thing during pregnancy. THERE ARE RISK IF you are taking em 4 the hell of it of course it's bad. if THEY are giving o you from your doctor you will be watched and monitored. ALSO some clinics run drug test on your urine so having them in your pee is ILLEGAL if they are not prescribed to you and you could RIsK having the child taken away at birth to children's services.

I believe that both are not indicated during pregnancy--so they must be rather bad. Did a physician prescribe these for you while pregnant? You should consult a pharmacist.
