Look for entry level work. Entry level usually means little to no experience. Be sure to list any internships or other experiences or course matter you've taken in school that might be relevant.

It is usually best to keep some sort of employment in college, even if it is only summers or part time.

It's easier to get a job if you've already got one. So you need a job any job will do as long as the hours don't conflict with your classes.

Once you have a job start looking for a better job. The best place to start would be the same place you got the first job. Then when you apply for a job in journalism and you're asked what you've been doing you can say, I've been flipping hamburgers, pumping gas, sweeping floors,...whatever working my way through school.

The interviewer will be impressed with your work ethic and you'll be hired.

Network. Friends and acquaintences are the route to nearly all of the best jobs. Get your resume together and then make a list of everyone you know and everyone you've met. Teachers. Store managers. Newspaper delivery boys. etc. Now TALK TO THEM. MORE. GO. KEEP GOING.
