Insects are immune to electromagnetic radiation.
Last summer when I heated a mug of water for coffee I found this out. A house fly flew in just as I was closing the door. I thought, that's an expensive way to kill a fly. When I opened the door after two minutes the flew right out.
I have heard it stated that, the only cretaures that would survive a neuclear war would be the insects.

The answer is quite simple. In a conventional microwave, the waves are spaced a certain distance apart, because that is all that is needed to cook the food properly. The ants are so minute that they can dodge the rays and so survive the ordeal.

Are you putting ants in your microwave? Why don't you get an exterminator to come out or get some bug spray to kill them. Or just take a paper towel with some cleaner like Clorox Cleanup, Windex or something like that, clean out your microwave and then put them in the trash, and of course, take out the bag and put it in the exterior trash can. I wouldn't want to cook them because some of the body parts could get into the vent holes on the top and then drop down into my food later.

If the ants are in the same section that food goes in, they're not feeling very well.

But they probably live in the parts of the microwave where the food-heating radiation isn't getting to. You'll have to take the cover off to get at them. Don't go spraying chemicals in there, you'll ruin something.

Yes, why do you have ants in your micro oven? They shut tight so the ants should not be able to get in....and you should not leave the oven open...
Maybe the ants do not absorb radiation at that particular frequency?

it's not the heat in the microwave that makes it really hot, it's just the level of radiation coming from it's thermal sensors,( so it can't kill ants)

ants are always known to be microwave-oven-resistant, maybe it's one of their special abilities...
