I weigh 140 lbs now and have to buy large in shirts and slacks. It seems that the size's are shrinking!

It depends upon how tall you are and what your shape is like. A lot of women can wear several different sizes, depending upon the cut of the clothes and the manufacturer/designer. I think this was the same in the 1960s.

A size five in 1960 would have been tiny, today it's still pretty small, but not tiny.

1960s makers of size 5 died, nah! every factory has there standards in sizing, better fit before buying.

The difference is that we have access to better chocolate and that's good for society as a whole.
