I've just realized that a great number of people come to this forum to attack homo's, but that the homo's do not go to other forums to attack straight people for their beliefs. I'm not sure why I didn't notice this before. This sort of reminds me of the persecution of the jews simply for being jewish. One user on here even mentioned to me that he had over 70 stitches on his face as a direct result of his orientation. It makes me wonder, does the constant abuse, physical and mental, ever make any of you want to change your orientation to straight? It is almost as if your struggle parallels what african americans went through before the emancipation proclamation. And yeah I would call it a struggle because you're being attacked from all sides, by strangers, religion, even your own family. This community is tougher than I realized. I in no way agree with homosexuality, but I admire that homo's stand up for themselves. Sorry for this not being a question. =)

We struggle everyday. We are judged on how we live, who we love, how our children behave, who our friends are, what we wear, the quality of our work...etc all because someone else "doesn't agree with homosexuality". It can be extremely wearing! Many days it is worse! There are many parallels with the emancipation of African Americans. Part of the difference is people believe all we have to do is "NOT BE GAY" - African Americans can't change their skin color.
African American slaves ran away and pretended "NOT TO BE SLAVES"
Let's look at WWII.... Jews all over Europe tried to "NOT BE JEWISH" or hid.
It wasn't until 1854 Mass. finally passed a law allowing women to own property separate of their husbands, and not until 1920 women were given the right to vote, and these women couldn't just "NOT BE WOMEN".
In neither of those cases were they free and certainly they were never treated as 100% equal human beings.
Our fight is no different, we are fighting to make every human free to be alive and true to themselves without fear for their lives and livelyhood.
Today a homosexual can not marry someone of the same gender, they can be dismissed from the military without proof, they can lose a job for no other reason than who they love, they cannot get health insurance for a partner or their partners children, they can be denied visitation in a medical facility, they can be denied inheritence, they can lose custody of children based soley on gender preference, they can be denied houseing, they can be denied state and federal assistance for partners and their partners children, they cannot expect fair treatment if they are a victim of a crime and they cannot expect that they can walk peacefully through their neighborhood without their life being in danger. (The list goes on!!)
We are not tough, we are human. We are equal to all other humans and feel we should be treated as such. We can't just "not be gay" any more than a woman can just "not be a woman" or an African American can just "not be an African American" or any other group can just stop being who they are.
To "give up being gay" /"go straight" for the sake of physical safety and the same rights as "everyone else" ( in other words heterosexuals ) is to give up our souls and our identities, to hide, to deny that we are equal, to refute our ability to think.
We appreciate that one more individual is beginning to recognize our struggle but we need you to move beyond that to accepting us as equals with a right to live and LOVE and to fight for equal rights for everyone with us!

you don't "agree" with homosexuality, but you admire that we stand up for ourselves? I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not?
as for changing our orientation, that is NOT possible! have you ever considered changing your orientation to be gay? no! of course not! you can't change who you love or who you're attracted to. straight people come in and ask this question all the time. it's not something you change! tell ya what, if you "change" to become gay, maybe I'll consider it.....NOT!

Glad to see that one more Person realizes that it is a struggle. I've never wanted to change, besides, you can't choose who you fall in love with. I'd rather deal with the hardships and be with the person that I WANT to be with, than to spend my life with someone I don't love just to make things easier.

When a minority in a society starts to unveil themeselves, there has always been a fight for their rights. It is unfortunate, that we, as people have to judge others so harshly. It is, afterall, usually (and hopefully), between 2 consensual adults who are sure of what they want.
