The answer is that it is entirely upto you, just follow your heart but at the end of the day you might make this persons day i think it could be good. Ask yourself if he was to die tommorrow how would you feel then ?

Do you know his wife?

Hvae your children palyed with his children?

Have you shared a meal?

A holiday?

If you said yes, then I'd visit in person. If you are more "business only" partners, then I'd send a gift/card/candy... (depending on the sickness)

I would. As soon as he was able to have visitors or felt up to them. If not, send flowers or balloons or something to let him know you are at least thinking of him while he is sick. If you were ill, would you want to be ignored by your business partners?

No, I would keep buisness with business.
Instead of visiting, send flowers or balloons and a card. You can show you are thinking of him, without having to be there.
