You are jumping the gun somewhat.

No terrorist had been caught with explosives boarding the planes and an attack was not due for tomorrow.

There is some speculation however, reported in the British media that up to ten planes were due to be targetted at some point in the near future.

Our (British) Secret Service has an appalling record of spooking the public with news of proposed terrorist outrages that turn out to be WRONG or fabricated.

You may be aware of the police assasination of the innocent Mr Menezes (supposedly a suicide bomb suspect.).

After Mr Menezez was gunned down , the police and secret service supplied the media with a diatribe of comments against Mr Menezes and knowing that he was innocent continued with a farrago of excuses and further lies to cover up the ineptitide of our security services.

Other supposed planned terrorist outrages in the past in the UK have led to suspects being released without charge and even exonerated in court.

Few real plans for destruction actually exist.

All the enemy has to do is increase communications (which it knows will be intercepted) in order to simulate the planning of an attack in order to cause fear (if their communications are believed).

Fear is the terrorists greatest weapon!

This strategy is much smarter thanthe IRA's former tactics of giving bomb warnings (in 90% of cases no bombs were planted).

Additionally , the secret service are aware that they are being "fed" a conspiracy, tell the media that it is for real and then take all the credit for averting enormous loss of life.

Whilst our politicians congratulate themselves on a job well done the next REAL terrorist outrage will be waiting to happen, there will be no communications, no warning from the police, just catastrophe, followed by incredulity.

I suggest that you rest a little easier, for now.

Damn imagine how bad that would have been
First 7/11 the Mumbai train bombings
Next 8/11 10 planes explode simultaneously before landing in the US.
9/11 the 5th anniversary of course

would have made it an even worse year, plus the middle east is going to ****. World War Three is brewing......

I heard about it. My dad had a flight today and I had to take him much earlier than planned after hearing the news. He had to leave his medicine since its in liquid form. And I hate to be the negative kind but I don't think we are out of the woods just yet. Terrorists could have a "Plan B" to execute if their original plan goes south like now. Please be careful when you fly, people.

Did you know that stopping American citizens from bringing water onto planes will stop the next big terrorist attack?

God bless America.

Yes. My boyfriend works for TSA. Every bag that comes throug is a dump search and they are doing gate screening also. You cannot take any liquids on board at all. The only exception is formula for a baby.
