What you're expected to do is to answer the question with a positive. However, I find that this is a very cookie cutter response. The question in and of its self implies that you say something weasely, even if you spin it in an honest manner. I wouldn't trust someone who would spin the question as suggested, but I would trust the interviewer even less. I would personally leave the interview, as I'm making a decision who I would work for as much as they're making the decision whether they should hire me. Either the interviewer doesn't know or care about their job and they're using some cookie cutter questions they read in some book, or the company's enviroment wouldn't be a place I'd want to work in.
If I were to answer the question, I would tell them that I don't think about myself or life that way. As I don't see myself as positive or negative, but growing and changing.

Usually you try to turn your weaknesses into a good job attribute like, "Sometimes I get so involved in a project, that some of my other responsibilities get put on a back burner."
You really have to be honest about this though or the interviewer will smell your BS and not trust you. Find the things about you that can be considered flaws but could still benefit your potential employer.

My weakness is answaring impromptu questions.
My weakness is pushing forward against all odds.
My weakness is determination to see the final product.
My weakness is loyalty. Despite how things are going, I stick it out.
My weakness is I'm very anal about being prompt.
My weakness is I'm overly organized.
No matter how you answar, make sure it's actually a strength. Pushing forward, determination and loyalty are all good qualities.
So is being timely and organized. Get it?

Dear Mely,
Turn a strength into a weakness - if you sometimes forget to do things because you're eager, say that occasionally, your own desire to get ahead causes you to lose focus, but that you work on using a system of organization (provided that you do) - or something to that effect.

You should find one ability on you that can be considered like a weakness but also like a virtue, for instance, you can say: I am work-o-holic, or: I can not stand mistakes of other people.

say something like..."Perfection. I'm uncertain if it is a weakness or a character flaw but I feel any task I undertake should be completed correctly with my first attempt."

"My weakness, is that I don't have any weaknesses." This response has stopped the last two interviews and, I was hired on the spot. People love that ****.
