I am only 17. I've had my license since Feb. this year. Today I hit a telephone pole going 5-10 miles over and fiddling with the radio and glove box. I swerved off road and broke a pole in half. I did not go to the hospital. My car was totaled. I am curious what will happen. Will my license be suspended or something? What fines may I face? No one was hurt..just the pole. I'm so scared. Please...

I had mine a WEEK and a guy ran a stop sign and ran. My car was trashed.
The only thing is if the police were called the might give you a ticket for "failure to control vehicle" and you might have to pay for the repair of the pole.

Generally if their going to give you a ticket they'd do it at the scene of the accident. If you didn't get one, chances are you won't.
I hope you had insurance! That should pay for the pole and after you pay the deductible, pay to fix or replace your car. However since you had an accident it will give you a higher insurance premium. I wouldn't think you'll lose your license. There's a point system most states use. Each time you get a ticket the points get added on. It's your first so you should be o.k. I'm glad your alright. Keep your eyes on the road from now on. Your lucky it was a pole and not an oncoming vehicle!

Did you run off or call the police? If you called the police they would give you a ticket and you'd probably have to pay for the pole. If you ran off, you better turn yourself in, because then that would be a felony. Glad YOU'RE ok.

Just to let you know that I am not sure on this, but I knew of someone who done the same thing except they were drunk. But they were fined and don't remember how much, but their big bill was having to pay for the pole they destroyed. I really hope they take it easy on you, if this is your first accident. Please be more alert from now on, it could of killed you or someone with you.

good it's good that your scared, technically I shoudl tell you that they will lock you up for vehinculat pole slaughter. You will be issued a ticket by the cops probably wreckless driving or something. Your insurance company will cover the damage then more than likley drop you. After that you will have to go hunting for another policy for which you will pay upwards of double. The accident will stay on your record for five years.
moral of the story ,,, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE DAMN ROAD. !!

Well, you're out a car, you could be held liable for the pole (insurance may cover that), and your insurance rates (your folks', anyway) will probably go through the roof. IF they don't drop you.
You're lucky as hell you didn't kill yourself. Pay attention IF you ever get behind the wheel again.

I hope you called the police. The police officer should have told you what you would be facing or written you a ticket.
If you skipped out on the accident you could be in trouble. If that is the case, please tell your parents as soon as possible so you can do the right thing.

Sounds like a ticket for careless driving. The ticket cost depends on where you are living, when my brother did that in FL several years ago, he had to pay for the pole...

You will proably get a ticket for reckless driving, your insurance will go up if you report to your insurance company, If you don't report to insurance then you will have to pay for the repairs of the pole. Glad you are okay

your parents will kill you
you'll most likely have to pay for the damage to the pole
if you didn't report this accident to the police then you can face some charges possibly
your license probably won't be suspended but you;ll most likely get some points added to it.
insurance will skyrocket for your parents bcuz of this.
