I live in MI, and the only one in the state is about 1-2 hours away from my home. is it worth the drive?

What was your favorite part/product?

Go to IKEA -- it is an EXPERIENCE.

If you are on a budget, then Ikea is THE way to go. Start your day early and wear comfortable shoes. Ideally, you should look through the catalog and/or website to get a "game plan" or you may get overwhelmed. There is a lot to see there!!

If you buy your main "stuff" elsewhere, it's great to fill in with Ikea stuff on less important items. For instance, the everday glasses (for water, etc.) are so darned cheap I cannot justify buying them anywhere other than Ikea.

Remember, the furtinute may look nice on the showroom, but you have to consider that you'll be putting it together -- a task that is easier said than done at Ikea! Having said that, my kids have slept on an Ikea bunkbed for 9 years and it is still holding up. However, the dresser drawers have been a bit of a nightmare!!

The food is soooooooooooooooo good and soooooooooooooooo cheap!! I'd start with breakfast in the morning (cinnamon buns are awesome!!!), shop for a couple hours (yes, even ordinary guys do this at Ikea!) and then have lunch. I recommend the Swedish meatballs -- cheap and soo good I feel like driving to Ikea now just to eat them!!!!

After you eat lunch, you regain strength to finish your shopping and go through the somewhat torturous pay and pick-up process. If someone can come with you to watch your stuff while you bring your car up, you'll be happier.

Then you go home full, NOT broke and with some great do-it-yourself projects ahead of you. Enjoy!

I love the simple lines of IKEA. However, make sure you couldn't order some of the stuff you want from them on line. I know certain items are an in store only deal. Because I'm even further away from the local IKEA-- states away Not hours, I had an Aunt that lives super close to one pick stuff up from the store and ship to me.

You might want to call the store ahead of your drive to make sure what you want is in stock- Just an idea. And enjoy the IKEA in your home :)

It's alright. I went to the one in Canton when it first opened.. i dont like the furniture much cause its basic and plain. You can get good deals on silverwear, pots& pans, plates etc. but there's not much to pick from. if you need it but if youre looking to decorate its not the best store. At least not from what I saw.

my favorite thing at ikea are the mirrors. I love mirrors because they make any room look bigger but they are so ridiculously expensive. But i got a huge one for $20 that i'd imagine would normally cost at least $75. but the mirrors also had the ugly unpainted wooden frame so i'll probably have to paint that!

I love IKEA, but you have to be very careful when choosing merchandise. Some of it is sturdy, but a lot of it is flimsy pressed particle board or laminate veneer.

I have a wood laminate desk. The panels are thick, so they're pretty sturdy. But my living room tables are thin plywood! I also have a very plain solid pine night stand. Never got around to staining it to match the rest of my furniture, though.

Instead of making the drive, why not just order online?

oh, and they had the BEST commercials on TV about 4 years ago.

I like IKEA. It is a company which sell the designer furniture. It made eco friendly furniture. More detail of IKEA is given on this site - http://www.mylogin1.com/2014/04/ikea-canada-login-online-catalogue-and-coupons-code.html

IKEA's great- I'd say definitely worth the drive. You can get everything cheaper there than normal houseware stores. The only downside is that you have to put everything together yourself, and that's kinda a pain in the ****, but worth it for the cheap prices you pay. I could spend an entire day in there...you will not go home empty handed! : P

I have purchased furniture from Ikea before. I was very happy with the quality and selection. A lot isn't my taste, but if you are starting out, I don't think you will find better quality for the price.

NO - don't bother. The store is set up horribly. Its crowded, and crammed. They don't let you bring the shopping carriage to your car so you have to drive up to the front to load your stuff - which usually consists of a long wait to get to the loading area. Also if you are buying large furniture, desks, tables, chairs etc.. you take down a number, and then have to search through this huge open warehouse of boxes for the item you want. After you go through all the trouble of getting the stuff home it then proceeds to fall apart, bc its cheap, and crappy. I hate that place, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone if they lived right across the street. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.
