My suggestion is to visit the website of the companies you want to work for. Many businesses do not advertise in the newspaper or any other places for their openings. You will be amazed at the job announcements you find in company websites that are nowhere else.

Try the hotel websites. Also, contact their human resources department to see what qualifications are needed. You might also try a visit to the actual hotels and talk to their manager. Leave your resume or fill out an application even if they don't have an opening.

You have to be more active in your search. Sitting behind the computer and/or newspaper will not get you the job. Get out there and get it for yourself.

Go to the unemployment/employment office, temporary agencies, churches, etc.

GET YOUR GED!!!

Once you get yourself stable, the GED will assist you in your efforts to move forward. Do you want to do maintenance forever? If you're content with that fine, but it is good to have options.
