The best book EVER on this is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. She will teach you exactly what to look for by a combination of taking your basal temperature every morning, learning about your cervical mucus, and, if you desire, learning to check your cervical position. You chart for several months and see a pattern. The book can also help you use your charts to see if you have any patterns that are common in infertility, such as short luteal phases, or if you are ovulating at all.
She even suggests ways to increase your cervical mucus to improve your chances of conceiving. This book is the greatest to help you learn your reproductive patterns to greatly increase your chances of conceiving.

The only thing I can suggest is that you get an ovulation thermometer, and track the subtle changes in temperature. When it rises, you're fertile (you should get a decent information card with the thermometer). They're available at any drugstore.
You can also try balancing your liver with 20 000 IU vitamin A a day, 3 000 mg vitamin C, and bioflavanoids (berries, flax seeds, and there are bioflavanoids in the Ester C vitamin C supplement, which is readily available). Obviously, the choice to take so many supplements is yours, but it has worked to regulate my cycle. If you have any kind of liver or kidney problems, then I don't want you taking these supplements. They could cause you harm.

You should buy yourself an ovulation thermometer... you can get them at your local pharmacy... make yourself a graph (kind of big, because the numbers wont vary very much)... each morning, upon rising from bed, take your temp and chart it. Your temp will "spike" when you are ovulating (usually 12 hours before).
You want to connect your dots on that graph so you can see the "spike"... dont make your numbers go by 1degree... your chart should be in 1/10 of degrees... the spike wont be much (you wont go from 97.0-99.9)(it will be more like 97.3-97.9) thats the reason to make the chart larger... helps to spot the spike easier... If you have any questions, your doctor can actually show you the technique better than I can explain it online... they may also have a preprinted chart you can use.

There are medications to regulate your period that are not fertility medications. Ask your doctor about Provera, and in the meantime consider charting your BBT(basal body temperature), CP (cervical position), and CM (cervical mucus). There are many helpful internet sites that will help you to do this, and some even have printable forms you can use. Try getting support from a TTC site, as well. Sometimes it really helps to talk to those who are going through the same. Good luck to you!

The drug stores have a monitor that predicts ovulation, but it is pricey. You can also try the basal body method, take your temp every morning before you get up. When your temp rises, you should be ovulating (if my memory is correct).
