I disagree...I think sometimes we need laws to make people do stuff that they may not want to do....You can still choose to break the law and not wear the seatbelt ( and have a big ticket as well if you get caught). The fact is the seatbelts saves lives and if it means that we have to make it mandatory by law, I see no problem with that at all.

I agree with the philosophy of freedom... I also believe in common sense... fielded too many unrestrained motor vehicle accidents in the emergency room to be a fan of driving without seatbelts. Maybe society has a right to protect itself from the costs, like taxes on cigarettes directed to health care?

I dont think that ne one should have the right to choose at all!!! they should all be manditory!!! even in the back seat for adults! because its alot easier to spend 5 seconds putting on a seatbelt then to die because u were too stupid to take that little bit of time to put ur seat belt on!

THAT IS A DIFFICULT QUESTION BECAUSE THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE I KNOW THAT CANT STAND TO WEAR THEM. ABSOLUTELY CHILDREN SHOULD WEAR THEM, CARS NOW A DAYS ARE SO UNSAFE BEING SO THIN SHELLED AND ALL, WHO WOULDN'T WANT THEIR CHILD TO BE SAFE? SO MANY PARENTS ARE ALSO VERY UNSAFE THESE DAYS TOO. TOO MANY PEOPLE THINK IT IS O.K. TO LEAVE THEIR CHILDREN UN ATTENDED IN CARS EVEN IF THEY ARE RIGHT THERE AND CAN SEE THEM. I AM SO PRO SEAT BELTS THIS IS A GOOD QUESTION, THANKS FOR ASKING!

If you choose not to wear a seatbelt, you are just beening stupied. Seatbelt saves lives. Just one other thing, don't let a cop see you without a seatbelt, you will just love the cost of the ticket. They will not hear of any excuses.

it's a law to satiate the freakout mongers and the car companies.
To each his own. People drive motorcycles all the time without helmets and ride without being leatherclad, which is the ONLY way to go. But you don't see any laws on that yet.

You do have the right to choose - you just get a ticket if decide not to. Theres nothing wrong about the law. I bet anyone who was thrown through their windsheild was like damn I should've just worn my seatbelt.

If your car stops suddenly and you are not wearing a seat belt, you become a flying missle.
