Several of you mentioned "sulfa drugs." What are those?

It depends on what bacteria you are growing in your urinary tract. Usually the physician starts out with a couple days worth of Levaquin and when the culture is ID'd. they may switch to something else.
Sometimes they use Bactrim or some other broad spectrum antibiotic.

Everyone here is right, one of those two drugs. This can be a serious condition and you do need to see a doctor to get medication. If a urinary tract infection is ignored long enough, serious damage will be done to your kidneys.

Any wide spectrum antibiotic. Penecillin based, Sulfas, Rocefin, the current "rave" for wide spectrum antibiotics is levoquin

Usually like amoxcillin but to prevent I buy the cranberry gel pills at walmart and take 2 a day. It keeps infections away. If you start to feel one coming on take 2 and it will stop it.

Usually sulfa drugs. If you are allergic to sulfa, then amoxicillin or one of the cillins.
