I think poetry.com is what is known as a vanity publisher. They agree to publish almost anyone's poetry and then will try to sell you a fairly high-priced hardback book of the poetry and "special" offers of merchandise remotely related to poetry. However, it's fun to get your work published no matter what, so if you don't mind getting sort of over-priced solicitations coming in the regular mail or via email, it's just a fun little way to work on poetry without any stress. I used their haiku contest for a few months to practice writing haiku. I don't know your age, but you could also try school creative writing magazines or local poetry societies.
