like when the sky and mountain range and prairie all kinda blend together and screw up your depth perception and sence of direction? a local sherriff in caliente told us theres an indian word for it, but couldnt remeber what it was, anyone know?

Here are some words and others :

'Fatamorgana'
A mirage consisting of multiple images, as of cliffs and buildings, that are distorted and magnified to resemble elaborate castles, often seen near the Straits of Messina.

Then you have :'wabanaki' which means dawn or morning land - the rising sun.

There is no "Indian word" for it...some Nations/tribes may have words for it, but there is no word covered by the whole race of people.
