I have a good answer to this question. Us girls get just as nervous as you guys when it comes to relationships. We get worried that you might think we are moving things along way too fast and sometimes that case is that we are just afraid of rejection. Also girls think its manly for a guy to make the first move. It shows us that you have confidence in yourself. But whatever you do, never be over confident. That just looks like your a self- absorbed jerk.

It's a cultural thing. In some other countries it is more acceptable for the woman to make the first move. I understand that in Australia it's expected (although I've never been there so I can't confirm this).

I think It is just ingrained in human nature from the caveman days when the man was stronger and had to make the first move by just walking up and taking the woman

It caters to the male instinct of search and conquer. Historically and traditionally, the male always made the first move to let the female know she was the object of his interest. Since many traditions have been abandoned following the Women's movement for equality in society, women are entitled to make the first move now but it is the male, who makes the ultimate decision as to the longevity and strength of the relationship because he is still the one who must commit in order for it to become socially acceptable.

Men are taught that they are making the first move.

However, reality is that we women do require giving tons of first moves to get you (the man) to make the first move. See, men have simple minds, and then need their ego stroked. So, by us flippin our hair ... the quick glance, look away ... or that extra second smile ... are all subliminal ques telling you we like you which promts you to think you're making the first move.

Problem is, this science of flirting is slowly being killed. Concequently, men are reading incorrect signs from the women who were not taught these skills, there-by causing men to be rejected more ... and then they become bitter old men. It's so sad really.

They avoid taking risk. Risk of getting rejected and getting emotionally hurt. Also they know that after a hint of invitation (a look / glance, a half smile, passing from near, etc.) the man will deifnitely make the move. Men are so stupid they dont fear rejection.

We spoke about a look / glance, a half smile and all. So who exactly makes the first moov?

Because that is the way it has been for generations, as far back, as when we lived in caves. I don't think the clubbing of the woman's head and dragging her to your cave, happened.
I don't think those women would put up with that. They may have lived in caves, but their intelligence, was the same as ours, and their emotions too.
Luckily, things are changing, and women often take it into their hands to make the first move. And about time too. :)

That may be your experience, but not mine. I find that each woman is unique in the way they seduce. No two women are alike in love and sex. I like passionately assertive females, who say what they think and aren't afraid to make the first move, when there's obviously mutual interest.
