I am a proud Liberal so, perhaps I can answer you question. Let's revisit your oh-so-lucid points.
Bush was not in office during the first or second world wars. Yes, thank you, all of the Liberals get that. I promise, we understand that one. We also understand that the people and governments who stood against us during those wars are no longer around... or would you like to argue that they are the reason Bush is so unpopular abroad... do you get that?
Your other point, that no matter who is in office, someone will always hate the United States. I think that Liberals understand that better than most. We understand that we are priveleged to live in this country that enjoys greater wealth than any other. We understand that with all of the wealth, and opportunity and freedom and so on, and so on comes great responsibility. Among these responsibilites is to be a good example for others, to act with integrity, to excercise some intelligence in matters of foreign policy and not act like a school yard bully to the rest of the world and, chief among these responsibilites, not to invade a sovereign nation. Now I ask you, do you get that?
There will always be those that envy us or that hate us for whatever reason. With greatness comes great responsibilty my man and that will just have to be our cross to bear. However, during Bush's run of the white house we have taken the good will of the world after 9/11 and run it into the ground. Our popularity, our good will, our credibility abroad and our safety has plummeted during his administration and to deny any connection is naive and perhaps, foolhardy.
Look, I'm all for party loyalty up to a point but when we have to start twisting reality to make all the pieces fit there's a problem. I won't follow you down that road. All of the parties make mistakes and we can all be big enough to 'fes up to them don't you think? Do you get that?

The past five years has been different. In every country, among either a majority or a minority of the population, there has always been envy at America's success, mistrust of America's power and influence (which has always been used for both good and ill), and distaste at American culture and brimming self-confidence.
But having lived most of my life in two countries which have traditionally been among America's best friends (Canada and Britain), I can tell you that people feel America has been changing in the past five years, and not for the better. The claims on our unending loyalty for what you did in WW2 (and remember, the USSR made the biggest contribution to winning that war) will not work when America is departing from its traditional role in the world and starting - yes, starting - wars.
Finally, people's respect for the American people did go down after they re-elected Bush despite the damage he has been doing and his obvious unworthiness of a great office. So yes, he does deserve most of the blame for the low standing your country regrettably has in current world opinion.

No, but one must ask the question "Why do so many other countries hate our inter government. It's not our freedom or democracy. The question is with so many super smart people and super smart education systems, all over the world we can't get people to like us, so you are saying they are still dummies. So the real answer must be an old answer "Money & Power to Rule over others Bush is a very rich person like most of the people in government and like in the days of the kings, the poorer follow.
"Don't matter whos in office"
So you are saying we have a democtic dictatership.

Their ideology is based on everyone loving each other and getting along with each other. That is why they are concerned with what other countries think about us. In reality some people are always going to hate you no matter what you do for them so it is really a waste of time to worry about it.
BTW, if this country were so bad then why are millions trying to get here? And why is there not a mass exodus out of this country? Speaks volumes doesn't it?!

WWI and WWII were not started over countries hating the US! The U.S. was reluctant to get involved in WWII and did nothing to stop Hitler from concurring countries until our allies practically begged us to join the fight. I also don't remember the world wars having anything to do with oil or false claims. Yes, people will always hate the USA and until we realize we are not always right and cannot Americanize every culture and religion they will continue to hate and strike out against their oppressors.

Yes, some countries have always hated the US, but nothing like they do today and there are many, many more people that hate us since 9-11.

Some of the most intelligent people I know would be classified as "liberals." Just realize that people are entitled to their own opinion about the world and so are you. Stop wasting your time bashing certain people and their views and research facts to build your own educated unbiased point of view.

It is the attitude of American people. They think the world is America. Bush is just a extreme product of it.
The day America will feel that they are part of this world and not the world is part of America. People will love USA !!

The libs long for the Clinton days when foreign policy was to establish a win, win situation to friend and foe, alike. Oh, how they long for a president who likes every one, and more importantly, wants them to like him, too.
Why, Bill had a hard time disliking the arabs even though they attacked American interests six times, while under his watch. But, these were Bill's friends, and he wasn't about to let something like a terrorist attack come between himself and all his loyal arab friends.

Yes, I get that, I'm not completely uneducated.
Bush is not making it any better by invading countries and leaving a mess behind.
My personal opinion is that Osama Bin Laden (you remember, the guy who planned the 9/11 attacks) was a bigger priority than Saddam Hussein.
