1. Go to control Panel then look for the icon display in classic view or Appearances and Themes in Category View. (If you are using category view after clicking appearances and themes, click display)
2. Now go to the Screen Savers tab
3. At the bottom right of the display properties at screen saver tab, click Power.
4. Now just simply choose how long you want your computer to stay on.

Make sure show welcom screen is unchecked in your screen saver settings. (to get there right click on desktop, select properties, click on screen saver tab) Next click on the power button and change the settings so that your computer won't go to sleep or shut off after x hours.

It may be just a setting you have, I do that sometimes so my computer can cool off. Just right click> properties> screen saver> power (which is near the bottom). There you can customize it your options.

go to your control panel and then to power options from there you can adjust how your pc hibernates or shuts off after a certain amount of time if you want it to run all the time just click that option and shut down manually when done

when you go to bed at night and leave your computer alone, it gets scared... all alone in the dark... so instead of peeing it's slacks, it just turns it's modem off in fear.... so to avoid this, maybe you should let your computer sleep with you at night!
