Windows XP requires more system resources then 98 does. Since your computer is a little bit old i would see if you can add more RAM to your computer so you are not useing all your pagefile.

The best way to resolve it would be to go back to Windows 98 Or install Windows 98 and then install a piggyback distro of Puppy linux. Puppy will not need its own partition. XP makes tremendous demands on the computer. If you really want to get the most out of your machine purchase Linux Red or Suse and they will have the drivers you need for most all of your components.

Of course! You have an old computer and XP needs much more in the way of resources than 98.
For one thing 256MB RAM is the minimum with which XP will give any performance. 1GB is more like it.
If your CPU isn't at least 800MHz, I would go back to 98 or get (buy, build) a new computer.

you could in straightforward words improve abode windows ninety 8 to WindowsXP . Window Vista is a very distinct software and it gained't artwork with both. My opinion is Window XP professional is the suited. certain you could up-grade to XP without your abode windows ninety 8 CD, abode windows ninety 8 is already loaded on your computing gadget and all you want is the abode windows XP CD (software) to improve. you're able to do the improve from on line, merely bypass to the microsoft website, for sure there's a value. examine both the onling value and a keep value to work out that is more cost-effective. reliable success
