Procrastination is a bad habit you've picked up over time and repeated use. I have the same problem, so here are some strategies I use.

Break your tasks up into smaller parts. Part of the reason you procrastinate is because you dont like the job you have to do. But of course NO ONE wants to, say, clean the whole house when they know its going to take 4 hours! So give yourself smaller tasks, like cleaning one room one day, one the next, etc. It will be a more reasonable expectation of yourself, and you can get it done fast and do the stuff you really want to do.

Another thing is to condition yourself. As in psychology, if you want to encourage a behavior you have to reward it. So if you know you should do something today, but you're tempted to put it off till tomorrow, tell yourself "well, if I do it today I'll treat myself to ____" or "I'll get to do ____"

My final suggestion is a last resort...when you've tried it all but you still cant help procrastinating. The best excuse in the world for procrastination is "I work best under pressure."

You're not focused. It's natural to postpone things you don't like. I've been doing it for as long as I can remember. Finishing my English essays 5 hours before they're due. Registering late for things. If you find something you love to do, you don't procrastinate. For example, I'm a huge fitness above. I can spend hours just cranking out pushups, squats, or just bouncing around my soccer ball everyday. When it comes to preparing for my organic chemistry exam, you won't see me at my desk until a three days before. It's a mixture of discipline and doing what you love. Both are hard to get. But do alittle at a time. The method that seems to work for me is just doing whatever I need to do. Just do it. You find out it's not so bad. Apart from that, just do little be little. Don't burn out, but work hard. Also think about ways to make your work easier.

You procrastinate because you have not matured enough to realize that you have to do the thing that you are procrastinating about.

Remember, do what your doing when you are doing it. For example, if you have to read a book for school, read it, but not while you are on the computer or watching TV. And the secret to life is "MODERATION".

Maybe you're like me, procrastinating only because you dislike the pressure of time restraints put upon you. Sort of a rebellious problem; a way to disassociate.

There is nothing wrong with procrastinating as long as you get your work done.

procrastinating is not bad unless it causes you to miss important deadlines or appointments...if procrastinating is holding you back then deal with it, but if not don't stress it.
