This is news to me, but i could guess. Do you know that Ethophia was never colonized. But they are still standing as one of the most developed countries in africa. They are also strong people. The america is scared of strong nations. Thinking that these people will bring them down. I am not sure but that's what i think.

I don't detect any animosity towards Ethiopians.
Lots of Ethiopians and Somalians in Seattle.
And they don't have to hide it.
I see women everyday wearing the longer clothing and head covering.
Even at the bank....the teller.
Where there might be difficulty for Ethiopian, Somalian, or anybody from Africa will probably be from African Americans.
I hear there are problems at the high school level.
African American kids giving immigrant kids hard time.
But I have never heard of anything going on in the street.
I can't really tell if somebody from Ethiopia or Somalia.
People in other countries imagine that America is this violent racist country.
Don't know where these ideas come from.
I live in Seattle.
I can go weeks and weeks riding the bus and walking here and there and not see a thing.
No shootings, no fighting in the street.
There AREshootings and there ARE fights.
Three people got shot down south of here but that was gang related in some way.
And the crazy guy HAQ who shot the people at the Jewish Federation.
But I don't hear anything or see anything that confirms what you heard.
If I did I would say so.

Americans like Ethiopians. Actually, I don't know any Ethiopians, but I'm sure we'd get along fine. I don't know of any "general feeling" throughout America regarding the matter.

I don't think I've ever met an Ethiopian. Its definitely not true that "all Americans" do or believe or feel any one particular way. We are all individuals just as Ethiopians are I'm sure.

Maybe the person you were talking to confused ethiopians with muslims or arabs...
After 9/11 many americans feel angry towards the islamic extremists.

I have no opinion on Ethiopians, as I don't really know any. I have a mental image of all Africans being either rich drug lords or starving refugees, which I know is inaccurate, but that's pretty much what the media and movies portray.

I wouldn't say that about all Americans. Maybe there are other races that do not like them either. It's not just the Americans. Racism is a problem that is amongst all races not just the American race. Personally, I don't like racism. Skin color and race mean nothing to me, if the person is a good person and respects others, then I like them very much. I don't care if they have purple hair and green skin, I like them for who they are.
