Don't put butter on the burn, it will hold the heat in and make the burn worse. Keep them under cold water for at least 15 minutes. You can buy a topical burn cream that will reduce the pain and keep it from being infected. You can also soak your fingers in cold water with some ice cubes thrown in to keep it cold. That's what I did every time I burned my hands working at McDonalds! If the burn looks bad, then go the the ER or see your doctor to get checked out. They can prescribe something so the burn doesn't get infected. Hope this helps!

How exactly are you typing? Ok put ice on it. NOT BUTTER OR ANY SORT OF OIL! That will seal in the burn and make it worse. Hold ice on it for as long as you can. Then go to the store and get some neosporin with Pain releiver. also keep it wrapped for the rest of the night.

don't put ice on your fingers, you may just cause further damage. cold water is the best idea. run cold water over them for a while. burn ointment should also help alleviate the pain. If it is a bad burn, then obviously go to a doctor about it. I should know, I have been burnt a great many times while cooking, and the burns were at varying degrees.

I find the best and least painful way of dealing with a burn is to make a cup or bowl of ice water and let your hand, finger, etc. soak in the ice cold water. Not only does it feel good, I don't seem to blister as bad when I use that pain relief method.

Run it under cool water for several minutes. Believe it or not ointments will trap in the heat and cause the burn to go through more layers of skin. Ice is not good either, it works too fast and again the heat is still working through the other skin layers.

Once the pain is relieved, THEN you can use ointments.

When my sister told me this I thought she was crazy. I still think she's crazy but this worked. I thought it would burn worse but in just a couple of minutes I felt so much better. I burned my fingers on steam, they were hurting so bad that ice wouldn't make a difference. I put Vic Salve on them and it was so much better. It really works. I wouldn't lie about this especially when your hurting.

Get a plastic bag & put ice in it. Cover with a moderatly warm towel to prevent very cold hands. Rest your hand, and try not to use the computer, watch a movie,& relax.

Wrap a damp wash rag around some ice cubes and apply that to the burn. If really bad, see the doc, but this should help a lot. DO NOT APPLY ICE DIRECTLY.
