READ CAREFULLY AND THIS WILL WORK EVERY TIME: Take a glass of water, bend over as far as you can and drink from the opposite side of the glass while bent over. Take as many small swallows as you can and hold your breath while doing this. It has worked for me every time since it was showed to me back in 1960.

I am going to school for a BS in nursing. I learned this in one of my anatomy classes last semester and it realy does work. My professor said that if a person goes to the Dr. because they can not stop hickuping this is what the Dr. will do first to stop them.
You know the thing that you can see hanging down in the back of your throat when you open your mouth wide.( your ugeula) I may have mispelled that but that is what it is called. Anyway if you take a Q-tip or something and stimulate that, you will quit hickupping. Just bareley touch it, don't do anything to hurt yourself. This will work. I got hiccups not long after my professor told us about this so I had to try it and it worked instantly.

someone once taught me a trick and i would swear he was crazy but it really worked. have someone offer you a dollar to buy your hickups. I had someone say to me.."Ill buy your hickups for a dollar?" he physically handed me the dollar and i stopped!
It was crazy!!!

Do something which means you have to think a lot - the only "true" hiccup is the first one, all the others are just your brain making you do it. If you take your mind off it then they go away. Do a really hard sum. Go for a run. Have sex. Be creative...

What ALWAYS works for me is drinking from the side of that glass opposite of you. You practically have to drink upside down, which makes you gulp really hard, which gets rid of the hiccups.

Take a small spoon like a tea spoon of sugar and swallow it. The sugar shocks the nerves that cause the hiccups and stops them

the best way really is with an anti-anxiety medication such as xanax or ativan, but holding your breath really is the best way - this stops the contractions of the diaphragm muscle that causes the hiccups.

This is silly, but it is the only thing that works for me. Plug your nose and ears, and have a few sips of water while doing it. Plug your ears with your thumbs, plug your nose with your index finers and hold a cup (plastic in case you drop it!) and gulp away...I think it is mostly the action of swallowing while your ears and nose are plugged....Let me know if it works for you!
Good luck!!!!
