I'm not sure, but here's a potential clue for someone. The man is doing it a little bit more often than once a month (12 months/year). The woman is doing it slightly more often than once a week (52 weeks/year).
It won't be shaving, that would be once a day for guys and maybe twice a day for a lot of them.
Hair cut sounds too often for guys and way too often for women.
Maybe buying socks (for guys) nylons (for women)?

Men goes shopping once a month, whereas women goes even more often.
Anyway, I seem to have seen this trivia somewhere, but I just can't put my finger on where, and this is driving me nuts thinking of where I'd seen it!!
