My sister in laws broke in wal-mart and she stayed there for like 2 more hours just walking around. Just trying to make herself dialate more. It was funny. She ended up having a very healthy baby girl with no complications.

It generally isn't as bad as people make it out to be. While I've never been pregnant, I'm from a very large family and I have heard so many stories, I could make your head spin. What I've heard to be the most true, though, is that when your water breaks it feels like the first day of your period, not enough to flood the floor, but enough to get your underwear soaked. Good luck with your delivery! Congratulations on the baby!

Im currently pregnant but asked my mom to share...
out of her three children twice her wate broke at home during the night and was a small amount not a gush

the third was in a coney island she thought she peeded a little and wraped her coat around her waist and left (turns out her water broke at 7 months) again it was a leak not a gush

With my first, I was having contractions all day and night, (right at 40 weeks) and the doctor told me to go to the hospital, it was time. So I get there, and get into the robe, and all that good stuff...well, my water hadn't broke yet, and while the nurse was doing an examination she broke my water - I told her I felt something really wet between my legs, and she said "oh, it's probably just the jel I used to examine you" But I kept telling her no, it's not that. So, I got up to go to the bathroom, and all this water started dripping down my legs, and the nurse saw it and I told her, "I TOLD YOU you broke my water!!! I knew it wasnt' that stupid jel!" And they told me to get back into bed, from then on out, I had to stay in bed. And that's how my water broke!

as stated before, it is actually more rare than people think for a woman's water to break. i forget the actual statistic, but it's pretty low. of course, mine did. i had a doctor's appt on my due date at 9 in the morning. around 6 that morning, i got up to pee (of course) and when i sat down i realized i had a little wet spot on my panties. quick look in the potty -- drip drip. i sat there for a minute, blank. then i got up and went to wake my husband. manny, i said, my water just broke. and my wonderful husband mumbled without missing a beat, 5 more minutes.

anyway, once i convinced him i was serious, we got up, made phone calls, etc. i just put on a pad and kept walking around the house. the hospital was about 25 minutes away, and we even stopped at walmart to buy a memory card for our digital camera -- the whole time, with my water broken. so it really wasn't a big deal, just a steady trickle. and, i gave birth 12 hours later - on my due date.

don't worry! even if it happens, it won't just suddenly gush forth. good luck and congrats!

Oh hun don't sweat this one. With all 3 of my kids my water did not break until the nurse broke it to help my already speedy labor. Usually your water will not break until the baby crowns (head is actually at the opening of the vagina), but if it does people will be more concerned that you are in labor and fixing to have your baby then with your water breaking all over the floor. Good Luck with your baby and Labor!

My story is more funny than embarrassing. I was standing in my kitchen. I just had an oversized shirt on with no panties since it was May in Florida, I was huge and hot. I was talking with my husband and I said, "What is that dripping noise from?" It took a second before I realized it was me!! Things didn't "gush" for several hours after I'd gone to bed, gotten up to go to the bathroom. The baby shifted and then gush all in the bed.

a small # of women acually have their water break on it's own more often then NOT it is broke at the hospital so CHANCES are in your favor it won't break in public "thou it could happen". I've had two children both the water was broke at the hospital. My mother has 3 all 3 broke at the hospital my grandmother 7 all 7 broke in the hospital.

For my first the water didn't break untill i got to the hospital.I started to have contractions and then went to the hospital. For my second my water broke At midnight while i was asleep. No need to tell you that i woke up immediatly..
Anyways don't be nervous it is normal and if that happens while in public You won't have time to bother about what the public think!
