Although it detects the battery with a 100% charge in Windows Energy Metter, the computer turns off if I unplug the A/C Adapter.

You need to change your battery. Operating System Only detects that the battery is already full charge but it doesnt know if the battery is defective.

well ... All notebooks recommend working on an outlet not battery while executing some operations which may need a high energy ... Some of this operation demands realy high energy ... So recommending is not enogh , it's a must ... That's like installing windows , formattling or partitionning hard , and ofcourse booting ... That's must stop the operation and warn u .. abt why it turns off and doesn't warn u that may be bcuz of ur seetings ... check it up in ur energy settings ... That's all I know .. Hope it helps .. A dead battery. Try Notebooks for Less they have batteries for almost any notebook and cheap.

Your battery is fried; replace it.

ok. there is a fault in your battery. please try swapping a good known battery. even if the problem persists. please walk in to nearest laptop service center.
