Maybe because most Americans don't seem to be smart enough to think for themselves. They think their freedom should be a blanket approval to be irresponsible and anti-social.
They fail to understand that their individual rights stop well short of where another individual's rights, or the rights of the greater good start.

While many states have laws against who can have sex or how, those laws are not enforceable in consenting adult relationships. The Supreme Court has determined that what happens between consenting adults in private is outside the scope of government regulation. Lawrence v. Texas (2003).
The government can regulate marriage, because marriage provides specific legal benefits. And they can regulate sexual relations involving children, because children cannot legally consent. But private relationships are outside government authority.

It's ilegal to drag a dead horse down the road on a Sunday in Ontario. I have always wondered what spurred that law on? Was there an epedemic of dead horses being dragged along roads on Sunday ?

yeah i remember that website, you cant keep an ice cream cone in your pocket and you cant conceal a weapon, you have to have it up in the air.
and in California, you cant sexually molest any butterflies or garbage cans.
