What can I say to a girl who is 15 years old and is constantly being physically and verbally abused by her mom? I am the 23 year old neighbor and she feels safe talking to me but her mom doesn't let her have friends and is constantly telling her she is fat even though she isn't. she is a tall girl. She is about 5'11 and weights 190. I like to help people and want to make her feel better about her self.

First of all NO ONE deserves to be treated badly. I would anonymously call Children and Family Services and report her. If she is verbally abuse then becoming physically abusive is just around the corner. I know there is an age difference but everyone can make nice comments. Such as "You have the prettiest smile" or compliment her on something she's doing. Sounds to me she has no idea what a compliment is and even at my age I need to hear them once in a while Sounds like she needs one badly.

Call the cops and take this girl into your care for awhile, physical abuse is a big deal if you know about it dont hide it help her, and verbal abuse is just as bad keep being the sweet person you are and helping her out, it sounds like she feels like she can trust you but you should really help her by getting her out of that situation.

that's really nice of u to be concerned about a neighbor.. isn't it SO sad when a person's OWN FAMILY is trying to bring them down.. even strangers care more?! so sad. :(.

i suggest telling her that she can email u if she ever needs to talk.. and ask her mother if maybe she can come over once in awhile to hang out w/ u, since u never had a younger sister. however, it can get dangerous for her if u "interfere" and the mother doens't like it. i would suggest to her, if u had time to really talk w/ her, to just work on urself to be the best she can be. if she feels bad about herself, she can change it, but for herself and not her mother. she can be healthy; go for walks or jogs w/ her sometimes after school.... encourage healthy eating, not emotional eating. tell her to study so she can use her brain to get away from negative things.. buy her a book or two that will b fun for her to read.... always smile and be positive towards her... try to encourage her to just be her best self, and not to listen to negative things.....=T it's hard, but if she's open minded, she will try.

Maybe you should call an association who use to take care of those kind of problems and probably could answer you to help your neighbour.
You right to worry about her, it's nice to you.
Good luck!
