I don't want to hear "FISH" or something that you have to feed live anything. Please.

Something that a mother would easily let a kid get.

Cat by far... They're naturally clean, you dont have to walk them, and they show more affection than gerbils..

Easiest Pets To Care For

I had 3 hamsters when I was a kid. They are so much fun and so easy to take care of!
Hamster cages are designed so that changing them is real simple. Hamster food is not at all expensive, and neither are them.
Some people might think hamsters can become boring, but here's how to enjoy them:
Try to take them out of their cage frequently, feed them with your own hand (that's fun), have them run around the house (at safe places, of course) and get the rest of your family involved.
If you have a backyard, take them out, let them run, smell, eat, whatever hamsters do. I used to enjoy just watching them go free!
When you are going to read a book or watch TV, take the little animal with you and caress him as he rests on your lap... that's sweet! :-)

i guess basically you are saying not a dog when you say small animal but if you arent you could get a smaller dog which are in the catagory of "toy" dogs. if you are a cat type of person then a cat would be a nice choice...there are also all different types of rodents like hamsters, gerbils, mice, guienie pigs, rats, bunnys, and ferrits. I hope this has helped a little bit!
P.S. you can find all of the rodents at most pet stores and they usally have food and cages right there. if you are interested in dogs or cats there a dog and cat stores that you could find near you on the internet or in your phone book!

A budgie is a great pet. All you have to do is make sure that they have enough seeds and water. Done! They're great companions... You can teach them to talk! They sing! The best part is that they're pretty cheap (usually around $19-25 each)

I think the best small animal is a regular sized hamster as dwarf hamsters are prone to biting. Be warned though because they have a relatively short lifespan (2 years?) and are fragile little creatures so think about it before deciding.

Here's a website with information on the most common type, Golden hamsters.

You can feed fish flakes to a fish. You don't need to feed them live food.

The easiest pet I've ever owned were sea monkeys.

well it matters what you mean by small....hamster& gerbils are not to bad they are cheep, you clean the cage weekly and they are very small (both are known to bite) the hamsters are nocturnal .... sleep during the day up all night ....gerbils are dyernal...like us they sleep at night and awake all day.....i really suggest a chinchilla they are bigger and cost more(around $60-$100), but are NOT known to bite, and are a cleaner too.. they drink less water than a hamster so pee less too.. they have no claws (look more like our nails) so they do not scratch...all of the listed pets eat their own food..find it at pet shop and are cheep to maintain..they all require a cage and the chins need a "dusting home" that is how they keep their very soft coat clean and pretty..good luck i have owned all as a pet and enjoyed them all :)rabbits are dirty..they drink and eat a lot soo pee&poo a lot..rats r good, better than hamster&gerbil not known to bite love people too..birds are messy, noisy ,bite, and require more.. no birds except doves

A rabbit is a super easy pet to take care of. They come in a bunch of different sizes, colors, etc. They can live inside or outside, and they're friendly. My rabbit watches tv with me on the couch. Most do not bite or scratch unless you hurt them.
