like 'Born To Run' and 'Fables' or 'Lifes rich pageant', and think they sold out with later albums?

...c'mon! even if they're selling Ipods they never would be called a sell-out bands, never...
Maybe you never heard, on vinyl record, 'Tunnel Of Love' or 'Automatic for the People' that would change your mind.
Though I love my 'Eponymous' long box cardboard packed cd, I'm always willing to rip to my new computer the entire WB catalgue off R.E.M.

Early Springsteen yes, but I have no clue when they "sold out", but yeah overall I like REM.

Yes! I love all of springsteen's early work up to darkeness on the edge of town. After that he wasn't as good, though he still wrote a couple good songs afterwards.

Murmur was one of the first "tapes" I ever bought. I was in the 5th grade. Their eponymous was great too. I think they went down hill after life's rich pageant. I love Springsteen's Nebraska album!!!

i like REM early stuff, but their later stuff is just as good, possibly better in some cases. What is selling out? they made a lot of money, as a good band will, doesn't mean they've sold out, still making good music and appear to love doing it, so can't have sold out
