No, I don't think so. I think at some point inconvenience outweighs safety.... and I think that more behind the scenes efforts should keep be made to make sure there are no terror plots or that they are thwarted before they happen, but to prevent people from bringing any liquids on an airplane is just ridiculous... I mean in this case it is not since there is an imminent threat, or intelligence of this kind of threat... but in the absence of this intelligence I think that it is sort of pointless. I think the intelligence is the key, not more security measures on the general population.

Yes because there are some liquid substances can be used as a dangerous weapon. The airport and airplane can give away complimentary beverages and you can take anything else you need in your checked-in luggage. The only exception should be food or milk for infants or medications.

Absolutely until they are able to detect it through a screening process which is not going to happen as quickly as they will lift the ban.
If it is possible today what makes them think that they won't wait a month or 2.
I travel 2-3 times per month for business and would prefer to be slightly inconvenienced then at risk.

No - but I think Bush ought to be permanently prohibited from entering this country, and stirring the pot like that. I don't believe that anyone "cracked" an Al Qaeda plot, only that the politicians want to keep support for the war alive. Idiots.

I believe that over time the threat that exists today will diminish, but for - and maybe for quite some time to come - may as well keep the liquids/gels out of planes.

Yes indeed, it needs to be prohibited. However, i would like the airline authorities to provide all the prohibited facility themselves. Prevention is always better than the Cure. And after all, its for our safety and security. Thus, it needs to be banned.

I just love how they're taking bottled water away from people, yet the plane itself is carrying thousands of pounds of jet fuel.

Yes, because you can put them in your checked luggage. It's only in your carry-on bag that you cannot have liquids.
