Why do some gay guys try to act like women? Or maybe it is all gay guys, but anyways. And why do the overtly lesbo women that I see have buzzcuts and try to wear clothes that usually only fat guys wear? It's creepy.

Can't gays be gay without completely giving up on identifying with their own gender? You would think of all people that they would identify the most.

Yes, the GREATEST PART of gay people look like everyone else. But, since we're not EASY TO SEE OR NOTICE, you notice those who "are different or are easy to spot." Gays simply don't mind the more extreme gays, because we know, "they are who they are" and LOVE THEM FOR WHO THEY ARE, whether its a Butch Fem or a Fem Male. People are people and should be respected as they deserve to be as human beings.

We would LOVE for the world at large to SEE us as NORMAL. That's why we have a standing joke, that if "everyone gay woke up Blue tomorrow, boy, wouldn't the world be shocked!" Because we're their fathers, doctors, surgeons, priests, reverends, teachers, principals, uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents, brothers and sisters, we're everyone.

And those "shocking gay pride parades you see" are shocking because much like teenager's trying to get "back at parents by rebelling" some gay men women feel the "need" to inflame everyone by shocking them. While I feel this is "a bit much" I would never say that they didn't have the right to do it. However, when the world condemns you 24/7, 365.25 days a year, it just p1sses you off and you gotta give back.

I myself have had over 70 stitches in my face and head just because I am gay. And I've been bashed more than once, so thank god I'm not "obvious."

Well, I think the problem here is that you see gender as a binary with there being an absolute woman and absolute man. and any variation from that is a man acting like a woman and a woman acting like a man. See, many gay people don't agree with this gender binary and choose to express their gender as they see fit. For some this means acting more feminine (or toward the female end of the spectrum) or vice versa.

In addition, to give up identifying with ones gender, or the gender assigned to them according to their genitals, means to be transgendered. Ask a "feminine" gay guy if he still considers himself a man, and if he does not identify as transgendered, he will say that he is definitely a man. He just chooses to perform his gender in a way that goes against heterosexual notions of gender.

Hope that helps. If you want more info, just email me. I am a lesbian and I study gender and sexuality.

That's like saying why do most straight men and women act like total Neanderthals and bimbos? That's an unfair assumption of gay and lesbians, sweetie. Not all lesbians dress in fat guy clothes and buzz cuts(straight women love short hair as well and I'm a sucker for a buzz cut on a girl or a guy!), and not all gay men wear rhinestones and eyeliner.

I love wearing makeup and looking fly(with MY buzz cut, mind you!)and I AM a woman. I'm comfortable in my own skin and so are many others in the LGBT community. Why are you worried about it? In what way is it affecting you? We're not hurting anyone, so stop making decisions on what you THINK you know. Get to know us, boo. We don't bite(unless you want us too!).

Ah -- and here is the prejudice I should have expected from your answer to another question.

I dare you to pick my lover out of a lineup -- no matter how long you watch it -- unless you are told.

Some gay men are feminine, some aren't. Oddly, some straight men are feminine too -- I know some.

But importantly, you are straight, why do you care?

it seems that it is something wrong with that doesn't it. I wonder the same thing to. I mean if you are gay why can't you be yourself, if you are a man dress as a man and talk as a man the same goes for a woman why do you have to appear to be a man when you are woman. To me it almost makes sense because we know that god created man to be with woman not same sex couples.

read this " My gay friends, I've been dying to ask you.........?"

you can find it by clicking on my avatar and looking at "answered questions"

this gets asked almost every day

perhaps you should glance through "older questions", "resolved" and "in voting" to learn about the LGBT community and then ask what is still concerning you
