I agree, I'm not sure who decided that Israel's point of view was the only one that mattered in this debate. The Palestinians and Lebanese I've had the pleasure to know were warm and wonderful people and I don't think they should be slaughtered just because conservatives are demonizing them or saying that it's okay.

They, my dear, didn't attack their neighbors. That would be Hezbollah that attacked Israel and captured their soldiers. "There is something peculiar about this Israel thing that seems to throw their normal ethical compass out of whack." Well, the fact that they were assaulted by a terrorist organization doesn't really help matters...the fact that they had to retaliate to DEFEND themselves, well, I'm sure that doesn't factor into anything that they're doing. Honey, please, go somewhere else than CNN for your news. It's biased and, in this matter, extremely wrong. I worked with several people from Israel this summer. The situation there is extremely upsetting for all. Hezbollah is to blame for this "summer war" that's happening. Israel can't back down until Hezbollah is either disbanded or stops attacking Israel. It's a matter of safety for Israel's citizens. So, this "Israel thing" isn't a matter of "social justice." It's about keeping it's country safe. Look at it this way, when the U.S. was attacked should we have just said "Oh, well, let's talk this out peacefully. We're sure you won't attack us again while we're immersed in peace-talks." Peace talks would be wonderful in more places than one but it takes both sides to cooperate and I'm positive Hezbollah doesn't want to talk.

Hezbollah fighters kidnapped two Israeli soldiers, when Israeli soldiers went to get them they were met with military style tactics and weapons. The Lebanese police didn’t arrest the kidnappers and they didn’t evacuate the citizens from a danger zone.
The Israelis were forced to try and get their soldiers back. When Israeli soldiers attempted this Hezbollah fighters used rockets and automatic weapons to keep the kidnapped soldiers. Several Israeli soldiers were killed in the attempt.
The wide spread fighting with the Hezbollah fighters makes them accessories to kidnapping and guilty of murder. The vast numbers of fighters should make this organized crime.
With the failure of the Lebanese police at both levels, the Israelis must do what is required to get their people returned. Military style tactics require military action to get this done. With the failure of the Lebanese police to get their people to safety, Israel can’t allow the citizens to deter them from bringing the criminals to justice.
Organized crime of this magnitude can’t be allowed to escape punishment. The Israelis must use any and all methods to bring organized crime to justice, the numbers of criminals and the firepower they have makes military action of any level to get the job done necessary. Hezbollah has a member holding the position of Speaker of the Parliament an elected position voted on by the Parliament. This must therefore be considered as a government sponsored action and any action by Israel needed to bring justice is warranted.
Hezbollah should have caught the kidnappers and sentenced them to justice. The failure of Hezbollah to capture the kidnappers and the killing of Israelis makes all the Hezbollah fighters accessories to kidnapping and guilty of murder. The shear level of the numbers of criminals, should have brought outside aide to Israel in the suppression of the Hezbollah organized crime criminals.
The failure of the worlds leaders is to their eternal shame, and that the whole world shall have to bear. Our world leaders have become cowards and not able to deal with a large organized crime syndicate. The Israelis are left to do what ever is required to bring all the criminals to justice.
Had this accrued in the US and Hezbollah hid in a neighborhood, then used rockets and automatic weapons on the same scale. The US military would level all the buildings occupied by Hezbollah and bring down the buildings with the criminals inside. As soon as the police had evacuated the citizens who were in danger.
Israel is doing no different, the law is the law and the organized crime syndicate known as Hezbollah must be brought to justice, no matter the cost. The law is clear and must be enforced.

Should Israel just let Hamas and Hezbollah bomb her cities and abduct her soldiers and not do anything about it? Should Israel try to negotiate with groups whose sworn goal in life is to destroy Israel and kill all her citizens, while they use their children as human shields?
What do you suggest? BTW, a poll showed about 90% of Israelis and a third of Lebanese support the PM's retaliation in Gaza and Lebanon.

A viable Palestine means a viable Israel and no viable Palestine means no viable Israel and wars go on between the two people.
No one could NOT change his mind unless he has no mind.
Occupying other people by force is losing policy in the past and now and has no future.

The only way to stop Hezbollah is to hurt them so bad that they'll never fire another rocket again. Think of the meaning of the phrase "Never again." It explains why Israel can't just walk away and let Hezbollah win.
For another perspective on why Israel can't just stop, read the real-life parable below.

I think my Jewish friends can have their own opinions and I don't need to help them think about anything they know more about than I do.
I have several friends considering going to Israel and joining IDF to help out right now. Who am I to tell them their own thoughts are wrong. I'm not Jewish and I'm not Israeli.

The Israeli government over-reacted and attacked the civilians of Lebannon, not a good "PR" guys!
Especially, since the other side attacked your military, in return, attack their military, not old men, women, children, etc...!!!
THINK Israel.

No. I'm not jewish but isreal has every right to defend itself. However, I believe that they have no right to be in that land to begin with since the UN stole it. Nuke the area... just get it over with.
