Split that is freaky.
I would recommend a piercing. one you are more likely to get a job, second it still looks sexy as where a snake like tongue might be awkward depending on your partner. then there is the enjoyment of food. your taste buds work on different parts of your tongue. You taste sours in the front I am not sure what kind of damage it would leave your taste buds.
Then there is always the change of style and likes. When you get tired of the piercing you can take it out. while the spliced tongue is more of a pain full fix.

Get a life, The world is an amazing place to discover and learn from it to think in stupid and trivial matters. When Europeans discover new zones, new tribes, they looked at them as uncivilized humans, all this because their customs of piercing or cutting some parts or skin from their bodies. Now centuries ahead we are going backwards and the herd of lambs continue following what one of them considers cool, if you want to be just one more of the herd go ahead, pierce one side and split the other; besides you won't need your tongue, because you will follow and do whatever the rest of the goats, I mean lambs! are doing, because you do not have the capacity to discern and realized what an amazing creation or evolution is your body!

I wouldnt do either, first of all, splitting, im pretty sure is permanent, and piercing your tongue, ruins the enamel on your teeth, personally i wouldnt do either. I would try to get something a bit more tasteful. I had a nostril piercing put in, and its tasteful, but small, so its an accent that adds to my total appearance. I would try something a little less extreme. If and when you do get a piercing, make sure you dont clean it with peroxide, or neosporin, hot water and sea salt will do the trick.

why the hell would you split your tounge ... that is sooooooo nasty!!!!!!!!!

A tounge piercing is one thing .. it's just a piece of jewelry in your tounge that can be removed without any permanent damage ... but a tounge split??? come on, honey... be real.

You're not even old enough now to have it done .. but think about when you're 28 and decide to get married and have children .. do you really want a snake's tounge when you're 65? Just pierce it when you can, and remove it when your tired of it .. splitting your tounge is permanent .. piercings can always be removed .. just keep that in mind when deciding!!

Please get your tounge pierced! The split one sounds really gross and will gross other people out as well. Think about it like this......you're enjoying chewin on a delicious steak when you're on a date and you feel your tounge wiggle around in different directions. How gross is that? If I was you, get it pierced because not only can you change it....it's very attractive. Get a diamond one....they're so adorable. Good luck with your decision.

I would definitely try pierced first, it is reversible all you have to do is take the jewelry out. Once you split your tounge, it's done. Besides a split tounge is not very attractive.

I would get it pierced. I got mine done when I turned 18, it looks really cool! I have no clue what the splitting is though....

Don't listen to cutemamma330 (she's more and likely old and boring), it does not make you look nasty or slutty, one tongue piercing does not do that.

It might look nasty if you had a whole bunch of piercings on your face though, but it's never make anyone look slutty.

Suppose that sometime in the future you change your mind. After all, fashions change - as do people. A piercing can, at least, be let to close the original hole. A split tongue is going to be very expensive to reclose.

Pierced. While split looks cool, there will most likely come a time when you want your tongue back(as it was before modification). Piercing is easily reversible, while repairing a split could be more complicated.

It's actually pretty much out of style now. If you ever do though, just get the piercing, easy enough to heal on its own when and if you need to take it out for work reasons, etc.
