I need an opinion! i'm throwing a school dance for grades 7-9. I want to do kind of like a "Prom Preveiw" a formal affair that is kind of a prom for younger grades that we can go wild and still have alot of slow motion AND we bring dates not groups. The girl I'm working with says go wild no slo-mo all fast all groups no dates. What do y'all think?

hmm...i suggest start out fast and fun...slow it up with some r and b in the middle then some hip hop beats. the last 2 songs should be slo-mo/romantic! trust me....been to a lot of dances girl!

I think slow and with the flow would be great for those ages. And groups are better for them at that age than dates, because dates can leave a lot of people out that don't or can't get a date. Twas just my opinion..=)

I think you're rushing it. Prom is supposed to be something special, not something you do every year once you get out of grade school.

Also, at this age, the dances are sort of supposed to be "practice"...the type of thing where you can safely hang out with your friends, but still connect with someone of the opposite sex, without the pressure of a "date".

I think you might have trouble getting the guys at this age to ask the girls out, too. They need to practice asking a girl for one dance at a time before they'll be ready to ask a girl out on a date for the whole evening.

Hey thanks for answering my question! Here.. Since to me i think you should let people come with dates or groups.. In the beginning play fast songs.. then a medium slow ish song the some fast paced songs. Then force everyone to dance to the last slow song.. Then say your goodbyes.. Play some crazy music while everyone is leaving

I would compromise, both of you have good ideas, Mix up the music keep it eclectic but I think you should drop the "date" part. Kids that age have enough on their plates with wanting to fit in, Peer Pressure, and Finding themselves. Cut them a break from the pressure of finding a date and concentrate at just having fun.

Well, I think your idea is great but I'm just thinking about the parents of the 7th and 8th graders, what if their parents aren't comfortable with them dating yet? It would be best for them to go in a group of friends......but thats just my opinion. Good Luck with the dance, it sounds like fun!

I like the idea of all fast and all groups.... But you know the kind of people you are inviting and stuff, so go with your best judgment.

At that age, groups are better. There is always more fun to be had in numbers. And I have heard that there are safety in numbers too.
