What kind of communes are in california?

I want to find a commune in CA. that has NO religious affiliation. It would be a community that has everyone acting the original roles of humans as hunter gatherers. There would only be hunting/ farming and village life as that of the movie "The Village". If anyone can direct me to such a place that would be great!

The problem with this is that most hunter/gatherers were nomadic or semi nomadic. They had to be to gather enough to support themselves. In modern America that means they would have to own a LOT of land, which would be pretty expensive. Also, hunting is regulated. Trational hunter gatherers did not have seasons they had to follow. No one told them they could only catch so many fish a day, or only hunt turkey in this month.

Communes in general are hard to find anymore. They just did not really work. The new concept is called "co-housing" which is kind of commune light.

If you did this you could do whatever you wanted for your "job." Including some kind of indepent earth based work.
