i have a 1992 Oldsmobile 88 with the 6cly 3.8 L motor
it don't have to spark comeing out of the Coil pack but when i run a wire from the batt to the spark plugs with it will start but run bad is that the Coil pack what is bad or the ignition module? please help!

Is the ignition module. Very common problem for them years of cars.

Yes, defintely the ignition module. The coil packs will go bad, but usually they will work when the engine is cold and quit going down the road, then start when they cool back down. The ignition module usually causes problems almost constantly. Good luck.

I had a LeSabre with the dsame engine and the same problem. I had to replace the coils. Depending on how long they've been misfiring, you may find that the ignition module is also bad (that is not highly likely it's just another possibility).

well with running a wire to your plugs you more than likely took out the module. the coil pack maybe bad also check the crank angle sensor

Replace both and quit trying to bypass the ignition system. All you will accomplish is frying all the electronic in your engine eventually
