Please help me to understand (please do not answer that is nothing to understand)

Wish I could take credit for this, but I'll take the points.
At the beginning of the movie (and it's been a while since I've seen it so I could be just a little fuzzy) the picture goes red or blurry. That is the main character committing suicide. The rest of the movie is her last thoughts before dying.
Her thoughts don't have to be real, or fact. It's just what she wanted or perceived the world to be. So the affair and everything else are her desires, fears, etc. and not necessarily true.

I have watched it many times. I love this movie. If you do not watch the movie from the very beginning, you do not understand.
All the first part of the movie, lovely Naomi Watts is dreaming about a very successful life as a movie star. The truth?..the movie star is Laura Herring, and Naomi character is a loser, living under the protection of Laura character. She wanted Laura's death and pay a guy to do that.The very first scene is a pillow where Naomi character rest her head to sleep..and dream.That is why it seems many scenes are unconnected...The people in Naomi's dream is the same people she meet every day at her job as an extra in Laura's movies. I hope you to watch it again, and enjoy it as the master piece it is.

Sorry - this won't help you - but I was "feeling no pain" when I saw that movie and I liked it and it seemed to make sense to me at the time - now, who knows!

I didn't get it either. At the end, the movie tries to replay the events as how they really happened, but I still didn't get it. Sorry.

It;s trippy Naomi wants to be Harrington. I fell in love with Harrington in this movie.
